Mother Russia

In July Marina and I visited Russia. It was Marina's mother's birthday and she had planned a visit and I tagged along. We spent a few days in Moscow then rode the train out to her parents town, Kostroma. While we were there we visited some nearby towns and villages. I have to appologize, this entry is going to be more pictures than words. I am really behind in my postings!

Red Square! (Saint Basil's)

The Kremlin... (behind Marina) and the next few pictures!

The 40 tonne Tsar Cannon (still in the Kremlin).

One of the Kremlin's entrance towers.

About town in Moscow...

Christ the savior cathedral...

The Russian white house...

KGB headquarters... (at one point at least)

In and around Kostroma...

A little trip down the river...

A view of a small village from the top of a hill we hiked up...

The hikers - Marina, Galina, Scott, and Vladimir.

A church up on the hill.

A trip out to the country house for Galina's birthday party.

The back porch of the country house.

Scott cooking some shish-kabab's.

A toast with Marina's cousin.

Russian country life...

... for those who doubted Marina's country background!
